How We Talk to AI: The GUIDE Method

One method, used in every exercise across all six weeks.

  • Goal

The task and the finished product needed

  • Understand the audience

Who receives it and what they care about

  • Instructions

    Tone, length, format, and rules

  • Details

The real facts — never let AI invent what wasn't supplied

  • Evaluate

Check the result before using it

The TRUST Standard™ — CAIRP's Competency Standard

Every candidate is assessed against five commitments.

T

Transparent Use

AI involvement is disclosed and explainable.

R

Responsible Practice

Confidentiality, data protection, and ethics stay non-negotiable.

U

Understand the Tool

Know what AI is doing, and what it's guessing, before acting on it.

S

Scrutinize the Output

Every result is checked before it goes anywhere.

T

Transform the Work

Better work and a stronger professional, measured in results.

Who It's For

  • Beginners who have heard of AI but don't know where to start
  • People re-entering the workforce, changing careers, starting a first professional role, or recently graduated
  • Nonprofit staff, church administrators, ministry leaders, and community program coordinators
  • Entrepreneurs, small business owners, and independent contractors
  • Employed professionals whose employer told them to “build digital fluency” or “learn AI” with no guidance on how

What Participants Walk Away Able to Do

  • Explain, in one plain sentence, what an AI assistant does — and what it cannot be trusted to do without checking
  • Write a complete prompt using the GUIDE method that produces a usable first draft for real work
  • Draft, edit, and finalize professional communications with AI — removing anything invented before it's used
  • Create professional visual content and captions with AI, including a clear call to action
  • Strengthen a résumé and LinkedIn profile using only verifiable experience, and research opportunities from sourced results
  • Design a personal productivity system with reusable templates
  • Evaluate any AI output for accuracy, fabrication, bias, and privacy risk, and decide: use it, check it first, or keep it out
  • Present a portfolio of real work that meets The TRUST Standard™

Built for Where You Are

Every participant learns the same skills and meets the same standard. Your pathway shapes the examples and practice scenarios you work through.

Pathway A

Job Seeker & Career Transition

Workforce re-entry, career changers, first professional role, and recent graduates

Pathway B

Nonprofit & Ministry

Nonprofit staff, church administrators, ministry leaders, and community program coordinators

Pathway C

Small Business & Entrepreneur

Business owners, side-business founders, and independent contractors

Pathway D

Employed Professional & Internal Upskilling

What You'll Build, Week by Week

Week 1

Understanding AI in Today's Workforce

What AI actually is, where it already shows up in your work, and how to catch it when it's wrong

Week 2

AI for Professional Communication

Drafting, editing, and summarizing real emails and documents — with nothing invented left in

Week 3

AI for Content & Digital Creation

Creating professional graphics, captions, and presentation outlines without design experience

Week 4

AI for Business & Career Growth

Strengthening your résumé and LinkedIn using only what's true, and researching real opportunities

Participants choose one of six capstone options: an AI-Powered Communication Package, a Digital Content Portfolio, a Career Readiness Package, a Productivity System Design, an Organization or Business AI Plan, or an AI Fluency Portfolio for Pathway D. Every option is scored against The TRUST Standard™ rubric — the credential is earned at “Ready” on all five criteria.

What It Takes to Earn the Credential

  • Attend all six sessions, or five plus a completed make-up
  • Complete all Check the AI exercises and Skills Checks each week
  • Submit all five weekly portfolio pieces
  • Submit and present the capstone portfolio, scoring “Ready” on all five TRUST criteria
  • Complete the program exit assessment
